After visiting the South Slough National Estuarine Reserve, continue on to Charleston then drive south to Cape Arago State Park. There are several pullouts where you have a nice view of the ocean.

Look closely at the rocks offshore and you'll find colonies of seals and sea lions.

Apparently, there are also elephant seals in the park at certain times of the year.

The Cape Arago Lighthouse can be found on a rock island just offshore from Charleston.
