Billy Goat Tavern, Chicago

After checking in, we went in search of dinner. The Billy Goat Tavern is a 10 minute walk from the Doubletree by Hilton--Magnificent Mile and it's open until the wee hours of the morning (1-3am). It's located at 430 N. Michigan Ave at Lower Level. The original tavern was located on Lincoln Avenue but moved here in 1964. There are now several locations all over Chicago.

Fans of Saturday Night Live will recognize the "Cheezborger, Cheezborger, Cheezborger; No Pepsi, Coke; No fries, cheeps."

Order at the bar and your name is called when it's ready.

The patties are thin but well caramelized.

I ordered the Double Cheeseburger--$6.49. Help yourself to the condiment bar--jalapeno, pickles, raw onions. The patties are thin but there is good beef flavor.
