We retraced our steps to Amarillo, Texas from Bug Ranch.
The iconic place to visit in Amarillo is the Big Texan Steak Ranch.
You'll be greeted by a giant green dinosaur with cowboy boots.
Along with a giant steer.
The Big Texan is a huge restaurant and gift shop.
Its claim to fame is the 72 oz steak dinner. Eat the entire steak, shrimp cocktail, baked potato, salad and roll within an hour and dinner is free. Otherwise, pay $72.
You may cut into the steak and take a bite to see if the steak is cooked to your liking before the timer starts.
We ordered the 16-oz bone-in ribeye--$24. I must admit I was disappointed. It wasn't particularly flavorful nor tender.
In addition to a roll, it came with two sides--we chose baked potato
and Mac 'n Cheese.
